The iwrite site includes step-by-step instructions to guide a student through writing a theme analysis.  The site leads the student through the pre-writing, writing, revising, and editing stages to complete the assignment.  It also provides graphic organizers such as a theme chart and self-check questions at the revision stage.  The site also provides a theme analysis template which helps to keep the work neat and organized.  An expert model of a theme analysis is also provided.

SparkNotes outlines the themes in the novel.  The major themes include fate and whether it can determine events, importance of friendship, cruelty that is experienced at Camp Green Lake, and the history of families and how it impacts everyday lives.
